  • Book Sales: Continuing, for Capitola Branch @ Capitola Mall – Our storefront Book Sale is at the Capitola Mall again this month! Lots of used books, CDs & DVDs! Where: Capitola Mall, between Target and the Food Court. (Note: this a new location.) Proceeds benefit the Capitola Branch Library, and held by the Friends of the Capitol Branch Library.

  • Friends Monthly Meeting @ Aptos Branch (5pm – 6pm)Friends of the Aptos Library. Public welcome. Aptos Branch Meeting Room. 

November 2nd

  • The MAKE Lab @ Scotts Valley Branch (10am – 5pm) – Santa Cruz Public Libraries’ very own makerspace—The MAKE Lab—opens for business in 2018! This makerspace will offer a variety of tools for STEAM-based projects including: 3D printers, vinyl cutter, woodburning tool, soldering tool, pinback button machine, book binding machine, and a virtual reality-based sculpting and painting program. Tools are limited in quantity and will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Kids 13 and under will need parental permission for some of the tools. Staff will be available to help answer questions and train patrons on more difficult tools. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Scotts Valley Library.

November 3rd

  • Felton Library Friends Fundraiser: 5th Annual SLV Chili Cook off @ Felton Covered Bridge Park (9am – 5pm) – Felton Library Friends join forces with the 5th Annual SLV Chili Cook-Off in a fundraiser for the new Felton Library and Nature Discovery Park. The 5th Annual SLV Chili Cook off is a fun, family friendly and festive event for all! Tastings of 14 great chilis cooked on site will culminate in  prizes awarded by a panel of judges. Attendees will choose Most Tasted and People’s Choice. Best Booth is chosen by our committee & Best Booth. There will be live music, local beers and wine, and a huge raffle featuring prizes from local businesses and several Bay Area sports teams! Click here for more info.

November 3rd

  • Adult Arts & Crafts Workshop @ Scotts Valley Branch (2pm – 4pm) – Learn a new style of art or crafting technique from professional artists and crafters. Each month will feature a different artist and attendees get to leave with a new project, a learned skill, and a greater sense of community. All materials and teachers are paid for by the Friends of the Scotts Valley Library. 1st Saturday of each month. Registrants MUST register due to class size limits.   • Ribbon Arts Guild @ Scotts Valley Branch (10am – 1pm) – Join Roxanne Langan for ribbon work and hand sewing from on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at the Scotts Valley Library. This program is sponsored by the Scotts Valley Friends of the Library.

  • Felton Library Friends Steering Committee Meeting @ Felton Branch (4:00pm – 5:00pm) – Meets the first Wednesday of the month at the Felton Library. All are welcome to attend!

  • Board in the Library @ Scotts Valley Branch (6:30pm – 8:30pm) – Unplug for a few hours to play new and exciting tabletop (board, card, or dice) games! This program is for adults 21 and older. Every first and third Wednesday. Sponsored by the Scotts Valley Friends!

  • New Capitola Library Groundbreaking @ Capitola Public Library (11am – 12pm) – We begin work on our new library, kick off the public phase of our Capital Campaign, and acknowledge major donors. Join us for this momentous event! Capitola Public Library, 2005 Wharf Road, Capitola. Hosted by Friends of Capitola Branch Library.

  • Friends Monthly Meeting @ Scotts Valley Branch  (6:30pm – 7:30pm) – The Scotts Valley Friends meet on the 2nd Wednesday every month in the Library Fireside Room. If you are interested in helping your local Scotts Valley Library, come to the meeting and learn how you can make a difference in your community. All are welcome.

November 15th

  • Munching with Mozart @ Downtown Branch (12:10 – 12:50pm) – A monthly series of free noon-time concerts at the Downtown Branch meeting room, feel free to bring your quiet lunch! This month features Celebrate Piano Ensemble.

  • Dining for the Aptos Friends Day @ Eriks’ DeliCafe in Aptos – Rancho Del Mar location. 5% of the day’s proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Aptos Library.

  • Friends of the Library Fundraiser: La Selva Beach Holiday Fair @ La Selva Beach Clubhouse (10am – 4pm) – Don’t miss this year’s La Selva Beach Holiday Fair! Shop over 50 arts and crafts vendors for handmade jewelry, cards, art, ornaments, pottery, woodcraft, jams, soaps, garden art, clothing and more. Find great bargains for gifts or winter fireside reading at the giant Friends of the Library Book Sale. Enjoy a delicious Bake Sale treat and with no guilt — you’re helping fund our La Selva Library projects. Enjoy lunch or take away food from two local food trucks: Rogue Pye and G’s Tacos. Kids’ crafts at 1 pm in the Library. Buy raffle tickets to win great deals while supporting Friends of the Library.

  • FSCPL: Free Book GiveAway! @ Downtown Branch (12:30pm – 2:30pm) – Friends of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries — Giving Thanks to Our Community — We Appreciate Your Support! Location: Outside to the right of the Santa Cruz Library Downtown Branch entrance. All books in our giveaway tent outside FREE with donations accepted to Friends of SCPL.

November 29th

  • Scotts Valley Genre Book Discussion Club @ Scotts Valley Branch (7:00pm – 8:30pm) – The Genre Book Club meets at the Scotts Valley Library in the Fireside Room on the last Thursday of the month from 7:00pm-8:30pm. the group discusses books from a different genre each month. The Scotts Valley Friends of the Library are sponsoring this group. If you have questions, call the Scotts Valley Library at 427-7712.
