Thank you for your support of the Friends of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries in 2023. It has been a year of beautifully renovated branches, increased collections, and community spaces filled with local groups and programs for all ages.
In June and July, there were very successful summer reading activities that included stacks of books, clever magicians, and tutoring for the fall. Year round, there is music in our libraries…all the way from Hip-Hop to Mozart…thanks to our local musicians and music lovers. Poetry writing, chess, bridge, book groups and the arts fill the calendar. There have been community lectures and discussions on climate change, artificial intelligence, and racism.

A public library is a personal space as well as a gathering spot and books are the core of any library. Our branches have quiet places to read, study rooms to concentrate in, and plenty of books to check out.
As you reflect on 2023 and anticipate 2024, please consider celebrating your libraries with a gift to support this important work. Consider a donation as a tribute to a friend, or maybe the Bookmobile. Perhaps a memorial gift to honor a treasured person will be just the right way to remember!
