Event Book Sales Volunteer

Is one of your fantasies to be a bookstore owner, sipping coffee (or tea) while chatting with book lovers shopping for that perfect read? The Friends need you once a month for two hours.

Event Book Sales Volunteers will work at the upstairs community room of the Downtown Santa Cruz Branch – either a Saturday or Sunday.  You will volunteer as a cashier, organizing displays, and interacting with customers.

Event Volunteers are the face of the Friends, so you should enjoy chatting with the community, even if just to recommend a title. Volunteers typically work in two-hour shifts with 2-3 other volunteers.

Your Friends also need setup and breakdown volunteers if you would love to work with books but would rather not chat with the public too much.

Book Sales with your Friends: Whether it is at one of the Branches, a booth on Earth Day at San Lorenzo Park, or online, the Friends of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries hold book sales to benefit your public library. We sell gently-used books with two goals in mind: 1) to make books accessible to everyone and 2) to raise funds that directly benefit our local library system.
